Justice Michael Walton is a judge in the Common Law Division of the Supreme Court of NSW. Prior to that appointment he was the President of the Industrial Court of NSW. In all, he has held judicial office for 22 years.
Michael has a wide interest in the role and functions of the judiciary in Australia and sits on the Governing Council and Executive Committee of the Australian Judicial Officers Association (“AJOA”). He is the current Vice President of the AJOA.
Michael is also a Professor of the University of Wollongong and regularly contributes to writing in the fields of law and economics.
Outside of those official roles, Michael is an avid tennis player and has been involved in competitive tennis for in excess of 50 years, more recently in the Sydney Badge Competition. He has also won the Bench and Bar Cup three times.
Michael has been the President of the Sydney University Lawn Tennis Club since He is also the Chair of the Sydney University Sport & Fitness Ltd Clubs Advisory Committee.
